ETEC 544 – Digital Games and Learning
I was once an interface designer in the game industry. Due solely to nostalgia and the curiosity to see what happens if I were to be in the space again, I took the course. My eyes were opened to see how the industry evolved and what were the technology used for creating games as well as for collaboration and project tracking. For this class, I was able to create a webpage using Google sites to document my work. You can find this in my 544-Digital games and Learning site.
This is the first time I was able to create a game that is research based. Our ideas were made with a target audience and a learning objective in mind. For our idea, we targeted industry working professionals that were busy and are looking to de-stress after work. Our video game aims to provide a safe space where they can search for de-stress strategies at their own pace.
In case you want to know more about the class, Digital Games and Learning, also known as ETEC 544 is an elective course I chose during my Master’s of Educational Technology journey at UBC.
